Who pays for the bride on a bachelorette trip?

On many bachelorette trips, the bride doesn't pay for the shared costs: the house, group dinners, activities. Her share is split among everyone else. It's a tradition, not a rule, so the group decides.

Use the calculator to see what covering her actually costs each person before you agree on it.

Now collect it: one link, see who's paid, both sides confirm.

In the tab, you can also

  • Add every other expense as it happens: dinners, drinks, rides.
  • Split each one evenly, by exact amounts, or leave people out.
  • Rename it, add people, or change anything later.

What “covering the bride” means

The bride's part of each shared cost is divided among the people paying. She still gets paid back for anything she buys for the group herself, like a round of drinks or the decorations.

Personal costs, like her flight or something she buys for herself, stay hers unless the group says otherwise.

Agree on it early

Put it in the first message with the budget: “We're covering Ava's share of the house and group dinners.” People can then decide if the trip fits their budget before they commit, which is kinder than a surprise at the end.

Let the tab do it for you

In GroupTab, whoever started the tab marks the bride as covered. From then on, every evenly split expense leaves her out and spreads her part across everyone else in it. Nobody has to remember to adjust each dinner.

GroupTab keeps everyone's Venmo and Cash App in the tab, so paying is one tap with the amount already filled in, and both sides confirm when it arrives.

Questions

Does the bride pay for anything?

Usually not for shared costs. She pays her own personal costs, and she's paid back for anything she buys for the group.

Can more than one person be covered?

Yes. A tab can cover anyone the group chooses, for example two brides on a joint trip. The calculator handles that too.

What if someone can't afford the extra?

Talk about it before booking. Covering the bride works best when everyone has agreed to the per-person number up front.
