Terms
The short version: GroupTab helps your group keep track. It never touches your money.
Last updated October 19, 2026
What GroupTab is
GroupTab is a free tool for keeping track of shared costs in a group. It adds up what people paid, works out who owes whom, and lets people mark payments as sent and received.
GroupTab never handles money
We don't hold, send or receive money, and we aren't a bank or a payment service. Payments happen in Venmo, Cash App, cash or however your group pays. A payment marked “sent” or “received” in GroupTab is only what people in your group recorded. Check your own app or bank before relying on it.
Your group's numbers are your responsibility
GroupTab does the math on what your group enters, using the splits you choose. If an amount, a name or a split is wrong, the result will be too. Look over what you owe before paying, and settle any disagreement within your group.
Anyone with the link can see and change a tab
A tab's link is how people get in, so share it only with your group. Anyone who has it can add, edit and delete expenses, and every change is listed in the tab's history. A PIN locks your name, not the tab.
Using it fairly
Don't use GroupTab for anything illegal, to harass people, to store other people's private information, or to overload or break the service. We may remove tabs that do.
Tabs don't last forever
A tab is erased 90 days after its last change, and its owner can delete it any time. Keep your own record if you need one. See the privacy page for what we store.
No guarantees
GroupTab is provided as it is, for free. We work to keep it accurate and running, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of mistakes, and we aren't liable for losses from using it, to the extent the law allows.
Changes
If these terms change, the date above changes too. Using GroupTab after that means you accept the new version.
